In pre-revolutionary Russia, a poor Jewish peasant must contend with marrying off his three daughters while antisemitic sentiment threatens his home. Paul plays Perchik, a former Kiev University scholar who arrives in a Russian village and charms milkman Tevye into taking him into his home to teach his daughters, subsequently winning Hodel's heart, though his radicalism concerns the tightly knit Jewish community in social, religious and political ways. Eventually he is jailed in Siberia, and Hodel leaves on a train to be with him. Paul was credited on the film as "Michael Glaser." This clip is just one of many he appeared in.
